The Golden Reel semi-final took place today at Larford Lakes in Worcestershire. This event offers anglers who finished as runners-up or in third place in any of the 24 qualifiers throughout the year a second opportunity to earn a spot in the prestigious Grand Final.
The semi-final is contested across two lakes at Larford – the Speci and Match Lakes. After the semi-final match, the individual winner from each lake secures their place in Saturday’s Grand Final.
Despite some less-than-ideal conditions, the venue fished well, with Craig Edmunds and Rob Harbour booking their place in the final. Craig won the Speci Lake weighing 259lb 4oz from peg 16. He fished a straightforward match catching his fish short including some large carp. This is the third time Craig has qualified for The Golden Reel Grand Final. Rob won the Match Lake with 183lb 5oz from peg 9 on Grass Bank. His weight comes via the method and bomb early doors, before catching down the edge later in the day.
