On Saturday, the 22nd The Golden Reel qualifier of 2024 was held at Larford Lakes in Worcestershire. With only two qualifiers remaining, Chris Jones secured his place in the final and the chance to fish for the big-money prize.
After previously qualifying for the semi-final, Jones went one better by winning the qualifier by over 20lb. Fishing from peg 27 on the Match Lake, he finished the match with 219lb 4oz, following up his good form at the venue after winning a Larford festival in August. Second place in the match went to Chris Lane with 198lb 3oz from peg 8 on Speci. Matt Dawes finished third with 150lb 3oz from peg 17 on Speci.
Both Chris Lane and Matt Dawes have already qualified for the semi-final. That means the two spots went to Taylor Weir and Kieran Marsden who finished in fourth and fifth place.
