Matt Butler has sealed his place in this year’s The Golden Reel Grand Final at Larford Lakes following his victory at today’s Hallcroft qualifier. Butler won the match by over 50lb with most of his catch mugged on the surface with 8mm pellets.
The win came from peg 31 on Reed, which wasn’t an error that Matt fancied his chances on. With only six anglers on Reed, Butler was fortunate enough to draw an end peg. He caught a total of 33 carp, 23 of which were mugged. The rest were caught shallow on an 8mm pellet whilst feeding 6mm bringing him a total weight of 231lb 5oz. The two semi-final spots went to Jason Dunworth from peg 5 on Bridge Outer with 177lb, 2oz and Leon Hardwick with 154lb 10oz from peg 5 on Croft.
