Disqualified FishOMania Angler Provides Explanation

Last week, we brought you a surprising update from the Moorlands Farm FishOMania qualifier. At the end of the match, it was revealed that the winning angler had been disqualified. The Angling Trust were careful not to name who the angler was. Being a small community, it was obvious that the person’s name would eventually become public knowledge.

On Friday, Jon Arthur uploaded an emotional video revealing he was the disqualified angler. During the 20-minute-long video, Arthur shares details of the “moment of insanity” that cost him a place in this year’s FishOMania final and in his own words “a lot more”.

The unfortunate moment came late in the match when he foul-hooked a large carp. While playing the fish, he scooped his landing net into the water and accidentally netted a different carp and put it in his keepnet. In the video, it’s quite clear that Arthur can’t explain why he did it. The situation became worse when he finally managed to land the foul-hooked carp and inexplicably put it in the same net as the illegally caught fish.

You can watch the video below where Jon Arthur explains the crazy situation.
