Yesterday saw the latest qualifier for this year’s The Golden Reel fished at Larford Lakes in Worcestershire. 60 anglers participated in the match on Larford’s Speci and Match Lakes. The victory went to Kent’s Zac Brown who won by over 30lb.
Zac won from peg 16 on the Match Lake, catching some big fish mugging and down the edge. He finished with a stunning weight of 279lb 14oz, which was enough to bag him his debut appearance in a Golden Reel final.
Second place went to Andrew Morley on Match Lake peg 14 with 249lb 8oz. Third place went to Jamie Hughes with 227lb 0oz from peg 4 on the Speci Lake. Jamie has already qualified for the semi-final, so the second semi-final spot went to Mikey Williams. He finished in fourth place with 226lb 12oz from peg 18 on Match Lake.
You can watch Zac’s winner’s interview on The Golden Reel’s Facebook page.
