The latest Golden Reel qualifier took place at Hallcroft Fishery on Sunday, 27th July, using Moat Outer and Inner lakes. Artur Hilmi emerged victorious by a clear margin to secure his place in September’s Grand Final.
Already qualified for the semi-finals, Artur went one better this time, winning from peg 6 on Moat with 257lb 0oz. He fished a combination of short and long pole lines before switching to the edge in the final hour. Most of his fish came during the first and last hour, with the middle period proving steadier but still productive.
Ryan Bennett took second place from peg 29 on Moat with 165lb 6oz. Ryan had already secured a place in the semi-finals at an earlier qualifier, so the two semi-final qualification places from this event went to the next anglers down the leaderboard. Third place went to Andy Kinder, who weighed 164lb 5oz from peg 43 on Moat. His finish was enough to secure a semi-final spot. Also heading to the semi-finals is Lee Riley, who finished fourth with 152lb 10oz from peg 2.
