On Sunday, the first Golden Reel qualifier of 2025 was held at the fantastic Larford Lakes in Stourport. The victory went to former two-time winner Andy Power, who booked his place in this year’s Grand Final at the first time of asking.
Andy won the match from peg 20 on the Match Burr with a weight of 142lb 13oz. Pete Upperton finished in second with 121lb 12oz from peg 5 on Match Grass. Dale Shepherd finished third with 99lb on the dot from peg 10 on Match Grass. Both Pete and Dale have now secured their place in this year’s semi-final.



Unfortunately, the winner’s interview stream on the Golden Reel Facebook page was cut short. However, Andy’s bait sponsor Sonubaits revealed that he caught on pellets shallow with the odd few in the margins.
