Saturday saw the third Maver Match This qualifier of 2025 take place at Rookery Waters in Pidley. The victory on the day went to recent Blakes Baits recruit and Drennan-sponsored Jimmy Brooks.
Jimmy won the match from peg 16 on Magpie with an enormous weight of 192lb 8oz. Unfortunately, the match weights haven’t been published at the time of writing, but Jimmy did state that his 192lb was “enough to just win.” According to his write-up on Facebook, he caught 15 F1s on the deck before switching to a shallow rig. After two hours, he’d amassed over 50 F1s before coming short and down the edge. He finished with 71 fish, mainly F1s with a few bonus carp.
Congratulations to Jimmy Brooks, the third angler in the hat for September’s final and the chance to fish for the Maver Match This title and a large cheque.
