A new year of big-money qualifiers is upon us. The first of this year’s Maver Match This qualifiers was held on Saturday at the superb Partridge Lakes in Warrington. Scotland’s James Woodrow became the first name in the hat for this year’s grand final, winning the match by 2lb.
James won the match from peg 117 on Covey 5, weighing 64lb 15oz. Second place went to Ben Summerscales with 62lb 5oz from peg 149 on Covey 6. Third on the day went to serial finalist Jamie Hughes who ended the match with 61lb 8oz from peg 15 on Covey 1.
Congratulations to James, the first person to secure a place in September’s final and the chance to fish for the Maver Match This title and a large cheque.
