Yesterday, the second Golden Reel qualifier of 2025 was held at Partridge Lakes in Warrington. Seventy anglers competed to qualify for September’s Grand Final at Larford Lakes, with the match taking place on Coveys 1-6. The victory went to serial big-money finalist Kristian Jones, who has qualified for three Golden Reel Grand Finals on the spin.
Kristian won the match from peg 171 on Covey 6, a spot he states he didn’t fancy when it came out of the draw bag. He finished with a weight of 124lb 11oz, which was caught fishing meat in several swims around his peg. Starting across, he caught steadily before the wind picked up, making it difficult to fish. He spent the remainder of the match fishing short and down the edge. You can watch his winner’s interview on the Golden Reel Facebook page.
Two angles also booked a place in the Golden Reel semi-final. Second place went to Dave Brown Jr with 109lb 11oz from peg 50 on Covey 3. Kerry Kirkwood finished third with 96lb 12oz from 146 on Covery 6.

Congratulations to Kristian Jones, who became the second angler to qualify for the big-money final at Larford Lakes on 20th September. The full list of Golden Reel 25 finalists so far is below:
