Saturday, 13th July saw the latest Maver Match This qualifier head to the popular Hayfield Lakes in Doncaster. It turned into one of the most memorable events of the season, as Mike McMillan put in a dominant display to book his place in the 2025 Grand Final.
Drawn on peg 33 on Adam’s Lake, Mike got off to a flying start and never looked back. With consistent action all match, he kept adding to his tally with a mix of big carp and F1s. By the final whistle, he had amassed a huge total of 353lb 8oz. That is the biggest weight recorded in this year’s qualifiers so far and confirms Mike’s place in the final with style.
Congratulations to Mike, who becomes the 17th angler to seal a place in this year’s Maver Match This Grand Final. He joins an already impressive line-up that features former champions and top names including Jamie Hughes, Andy Power, and Jack Williams.
