Today, the Middy Facebook page announced that it had ended its sponsorship deal with May Potter. No reasons were given in the initial statement from the tackle company, but a reply in the comments revealed that May is busy with other commitments.
Important Notice
We wish to announce that May Potter is no longer a sponsored angler with Middy Match Range.
May is a fantastic angler and has done a lot for the sport and we are sure that she will continue to grow within the industry.
We wish her all the best for the future.
2024 saw many changes in May’s fishing career. She left her long-time bait sponsor Dynamite Baits in March. Shortly afterwards she took up a position as the social media manager for Aquastim. In October, May revealed she was ending her sponsorship with MAP and was quickly signed by the revamped Middy.
In November, May left her position at Aquastim and took up a similar role with Capital Angling. Finally, also in November, May revealed that she had returned to Dynamite Baits as a sponsored angler.
Ultimately, it appears her commitments to Capital Angling and her sister company, Capital Catch Competition, were the reason for her departure from Middy. The Middy Facebook page states:
It’s purely down to May being busy with capital catch. Absolutely nothing to do with anything else.
May gave her own statement early on Tuesday morning, confirming that the reason she has withdrawn from her sponsorship agreement is her focus on Capital Angling.
After a short and enjoyable time at Middy, I have chosen to leave my role as a sponsored angler to concentrate on my full-time career at Capital Catch Competitions . Which involves working alongside multiple brands. This is no reflection on Middy or my time there. I want to thank them for the opportunity and wish them all the best for the future
Given May Potter’s popularity, it won’t be long before another tackle company looks to add her to its ranks. We wish both Middy and May Potter good luck in the future.
