In November 2024, Capital Angling announced that May Potter had joined the company as its Social Media Manager. This move marked a significant step in May’s career, as she left a similar role with Aquastim to take on the position. Her work featured prominently across the social media platforms of both Capital Angling and its sister company, Capital Catch Competitions.
The partnership between May and Capital initially appeared promising. In January 2025, May even stepped away from her sponsorship with tackle brand Middy to focus on her commitments with Capital Angling. However, earlier today, Capital Catch Competitions revealed via their Facebook that May has officially left her role with the company.
May Potter will no longer be working with Capital.
We would like to thank May for being a valuable part of the Capital Team and wish May all the very best in her future ventures.
May’s departure coincides with her recent announcement that she and Steve Robinson have acquired On The Flyer TV. This new venture reflects May’s ambition to establish a legitimate business within the angling industry. As one of the few prominent female figures in this male-dominated sport, May sees this as an opportunity to expand her influence and contribute further to the match fishing calendar.
As a female in a male-dominated sport, it’s not often you get the opportunity to take a chance on something that could make you a legitimate business within angling. I’m really looking forward to growing the brand and adding to the match calendar year on year.
On The Flyer TV was previously run by Gary Rodgers, who stepped away from the company after an old conviction came to light. The decision has sparked mixed reactions within the angling community. While some see it as an exciting step forward, others have expressed concerns about On The Flyer TV’s reputation. Several comments describing it as “tarnished” and suggesting that only significant changes can alter public perception.
May’s career has been marked by rapid changes over the past year. She left her six-year sponsorship with MAP in late 2024. Shortly afterwards she joined Middy, only to part ways with them shortly after due to her commitments at Capital Angling.
We wish both May Potter and Capital Angling all the best in the future.
