MAP has introduced its new TKS G Series pole range via a YouTube video. The TKS G Series comprises six models and is the successor to the popular TKS pole series. The key innovation in the TKS G Series is the incorporation of graphene into the construction of the carbon fibre.
The Advantages of Graphene in Poles
Graphene, a two-dimensional material derived from graphite, is incredibly strong and lightweight. By adding graphene to each section, MAP has achieved a reported 18-20% increase in strength compared to previous models, without adding any significant weight. This enhancement addresses the limitations of traditional carbon fibre technology, where increasing strength typically meant adding more material and, consequently, more weight.
The benefits of graphene were demonstrated through crush tests, where a TKS G Series pole section withstood significantly more pressure than a comparable section from the previous 901 series. Specifically, a G60 number six section failed at 24 kgs of pressure, while the 901 number six section failed at just 20 kgs.
Furthermore, the TKS G Series poles exhibit increased stiffness compared to their predecessors. A side-by-side comparison of the G60 and 901 poles revealed a noticeable difference in stiffness, with the G60 showing approximately 10-12 inches less droop when jigged at the same length. Despite these improvements in strength and stiffness, the TKS G Series poles maintain a similar weight to the older range. For example, both the 901 and G60 poles weighed approximately 1435 grams.

TKS G Series Pole Range Packages and Prices

MAP TKS G60 16m Pole
The MAP TKS G60 16m Pole will retail for £3,750.00.
The TKS G60 uses the same mandrel as the 901 so offers full interchangeability with this model. The G60 has reached new highest in performance, and offers superb balance, weight and incredible rigidity even at its longest length. Equally at home catching big weights on commercials, as well as fishing natural venues, this is a truly amazing pole and offers incredible stiffness at its longest length. As with all the G Series poles, we have used Graphene modified resin, impregnated into the carbon, that has helped create all-round pole that that’s incredibly robust due to the nature of the material, yet remains incredibly well balanced and light. Each top kit supplied with the G60 features a unique depth marker print, so you can quickly find the correct amount of depth you require, or know what depth you were actually fishing at. Also, each top kit is also supplied with an extra-long PTFE bush fitted as standard, and fitted with our unique side roller puller.
