Saturday, 31st May saw the 11th FishOMania qualifier of the year take place at Lindholme Lakes in Doncaster. In another sell-out event, it was Matrix-backed Callum Dicks who took his chance to book a place in July’s Grand Final, his dominant performance proving too much for the chasing pack as he secured victory by over 30lb.
After making the long journey up from the South West, Callum was rewarded with a strong draw on peg 5 on Benny’s Lake. A noted area for big weights. Armed with some valuable insight from friends and fellow anglers Kristian Jones and Brad Lucas, he opted for a straightforward approach. He opted for short pellet line and a long shallow line.
That simplicity paid off, as he caught consistently throughout the match. Even the strong winds, which made conditions tricky at times, didn’t stop him from putting together a huge net of carp and big F1s. He summed up the conditions on his Facebook page:
The wind has been a nightmare, but the two little spells when it dropped I caught so quick it was a joke.
His final weight of 227lb 7oz was more than enough to seal the win and confirm his place in this year’s Grand Final. Second place went to Dan Bennett from the next peg with 193lb 2oz from peg 6. James Woodfine came thrid with 179lb 110z from peg 61 on Bonsai.
Congratulations to Callum Dicks on the victory.. He becomes the 14th confirmed finalist in this year FishOMania Grand Final.

The next FishOMania qualifier will take place at Partridge Lakes in Doncaster on Wednesday, 4th June. This year’s FishOMania Grand Final takes place on Saturday, 19th July, at Westwood Lakes in Boston.
