Jamie Hughes has once again secured his place in the FishOMania Grand Final — his 15th overall appearance and an unmatched 14th in consecutive years. Yesterday’s sold-out event at Springvale Fishing Lakes was the venue’s first-ever FishOMania qualifier, but it didn’t stop the Wirral-based star from delivering a trademark performance to claim the win and continue one of match fishing’s most remarkable streaks.
Drawn on peg 24 on Duchess Lake, Jamie fished an all-out hard pellet attack, targeting both long and short pole lines on the deck. His approach proved spot on, landing carp to 14lb and finishing with a winning weight of 173lb 13oz. That was enough to edge out a stacked field and earn another shot at the £50,000 top prize in July’s final at Westwood Lakes.
Paul Wright finished in second place with 163lb 12oz from peg 28 on Newcastle Lake. Third place went to Lee Riley, who weighed in 160lb 10oz from peg 10 on the same lake.

Qualifying for a single FishO final is an achievement most match anglers dream of. To reach 14 in a row—and do it on an unfamiliar venue—is something else entirely. Congratulations to Jamie, who remains the benchmark in UK match fishing. As the Grand Final draws closer, few would bet against him adding a record-extending fourth title to his list of achievements.
