The Angling Trust has officially revealed the seven-person squad that will be competing for England’s Ladies team at this year’s World coarse Angling Championship for Women. The squad, which was announced on the Angling Trust website, includes five members of last year’s team, including reigning World Champion Helen Dagnall, along with two debutants.

Following an assessment day at Makins Fishery in Nuneaton, manager Dave Brooks selected “one of the strongest line ups of anglers ever assembled”. The squad consists of last year’s team members Helen Dagnall, Samantha Sim, Kayleigh Dowd, May Potter, and Leanne Knott. The last two places were awarded to two ladies earning their first England caps: Sarah Taylor and Chloe Raynor.

Manager Dave Brooks added:

The attitude of all the ladies who took part in the assessment day was superb. We’ve been keeping an eye on several of the anglers over the winter and it’s clear they have been working hard on silverfish matches and leagues to get themselves the skills to get into the squad.

The World Coarse Angling Championship for Women is set to take place on the 24th and 25th of August and will take place on the Mondego River in Penacova, Portugal.
