The Angling Trust has announced the launch of SuperCup 2025. A brand-new interclub knockout competition sponsored by Ringer Baits. The SuperCup aims to provide clubs, tackle shops, and fishery-based teams with a unique opportunity to compete nationally. SuperCup 2025 offers a pathway from friendly, local matches to the coveted title of national champions.

SuperCup 2025 Format
The SuperCup 2025 will begin with a series of knockout rounds. In the early rounds, teams will compete against other local teams. As the competition progresses matches will expand into county or regional levels. These initial rounds lead to a Grand Final at Barston Lakes on Saturday, 18th October 2025. The final will see the top 15 qualifying teams, representing three regions (North, Midlands, and South), battle head-to-head. The winning team will win the SuperCup trophy. They will also take home the £1,000 prize, and additional bait prizes provided by Ringer Baits.
The SuperCup is extremely accessible, with low costs, minimal travel, and a straightforward format. Moreover, the competition emphasises honesty, integrity, and friendship, creating a welcoming environment for anglers of all skill levels. It aims to give teams and anglers who might not typically find success at the National or Winter League level to compete against similarly skilled teams. Past iterations of this format have fostered stronger bonds between grassroots clubs, creating lasting friendships and mutual support within the angling community.
SuperCup 2025 Registration
Team registration for SuperCup 2025 opens at 9 am on Friday, 28th February 2025. The closing date for registration is on 31st March. The entry fee is £50 per team. Teams can consist of up to 10 anglers, with any five selected to fish in the knockout rounds and final. Notably, to maintain the grassroots spirit of the competition, sponsored or high-profile anglers who have fished in the Division 1 National over the past three years are ineligible to compete. Under 16s require an Angling Trust Young Angler Exemption Certificate.
The draws for each round will be broadcast via Facebook Live and published on the Angling Trust Competitions social channels. The home team, drawn first, will select a suitable venue within a reasonable travelling distance (50 miles is recommended). This will ensure opposing teams have the opportunity to practice. Standard fishery rules apply, and disputes will be adjudicated by the Angling Trust, with their decision being final.
Phil Ringer of Ringer Baits expressed his enthusiasm for the new competition:
With the launch of the SuperCup, the Angling Trust has introduced a bespoke team knockout competition for clubs, tackle shop and fishery-based teams that may never taste victory at National or Winter League level.
