The latest FishOMania qualifier took place at Boldings Pools near Bridgnorth, where a closely fought contest saw Jake Fowles secure qualification by the narrowest of margins. Jake topped the 100-peg event with 136lb 9oz, finishing just 1lb 8oz ahead of Mikey Williams in second place.
Drawn on peg 26 on Chestnut Pool, Jake built his winning weight with a steady approach. Targeting carp and F1s, he fed hard pellets on a short line before later switching to the margins, where he continued to pick off quality fish. His catch included fish to around 9lb, which proved crucial in edging ahead.
Mikey Williams, fishing peg 5 on Willows Pool, pushed him all the way with 135lb 1oz of carp and F1s. The Welsh angler’s near miss highlights the fine margins that can define FishOMania qualifiers, particularly on well-stocked venues such as Boldings Pools.
Fowles’ victory sees him book his place in the 2026 FishOMania Grand Final, where he will join a growing field of qualifiers all aiming for the £50,000 top prize.
