The FishOMania 2025 Grand Final at Westwood Lakes in Lincolnshire was another spectacular day of match fishing. Twenty-five elite anglers lined up on Falcon Lake, each hoping to win the prestigious title and a £50,000 top prize.
Heavy rain and tricky conditions made this one of the toughest finals in recent years. Former champions Andy Bennett, Jamie Hughes and Dave Shires were back in the line-up. They joined a mix of UK and European qualifiers who had all fought hard to reach the showpiece event.
Brad Lucas Creates History
As the final hour ticked away, the bankside atmosphere grew. Young talent Brad Lucas held a narrow lead. However, experienced campaigner Steve Openshaw was closing in fast, making every weigh-in tense. Brad showed incredible composure. He stayed focused, fished steadily and refused to be caught. When the final hooter sounded, he was confirmed as the youngest-ever FishOMania champion.
The Matrix-backed Yorkshire angler lifted the trophy and pocketed £50,000. It was the perfect reward for a season of consistent results in other major events such as Maver Match This and the Golden Reel qualifiers
Openshaw and Section Winners
Steve Openshaw finished as runner-up after another strong showing on a fancied end peg. He collected £10,000 for second place and once again proved why he is one of the most respected names in match fishing.
Three anglers each won £2,000 as section winners. Congratulations go to:
- Kerry Kirkwood
- Harry Michael
- Charlie Law
Each performed brilliantly despite the difficult conditions on Falcon Lake.
