Today’s twelfth FishOMania qualifier was held at Hallcroft Fisheries in Retford, Nottingham. With the venue fishing well recently, it was expected that a catch of over 200lb would be needed to make this year’s FishOMania final. Nick Speed was the only angler to achieve the feat, catching a stunning 286lb 9oz from peg 6 on Moat Outer.
Speedy caught most of his fish in the margins, catching some big carp up to 15lb fishing on maggot and worm over groundbait. He won the match by over 120lb from second-placed Paul Wright who ended with 156lb 10oz from peg 29 on Inner Moat. Third place went to Gary Wills who finished the match with 156lb 1ox from peg 2 from Moat Inner.


Nick Speed becomes the latest confirmed competitor and will fish for his chance to win £50,000 and the FishOMania crown at Westwood Lakes in July. The full list of FishOMania 24 finalists are below:

The next qualifier takes place at Weston Pools in Oswestry, Shropshire on Saturday, 8th June.
This year’s FishOMania final is on Saturday, 27th July at Westwood Lakes in Boston. Spectator tickets are available to purchase already. Tickets cost £7.00 per person, while a group booking for 4 people costs £20.00. A 10% service fee and £2.95 booking fee per order also apply. Car parking tickets are available for an additional fee at the time of booking. Car parking will cost £7.00 per car and £10.00 per van.
