This weekend, three England squads will compete at the World Coarse Angling Championships on the Plovdiv Rowing Coarse in Bulgaria. On the eve of the exciting competitions, the Angling Trust has proudly announced the teams for England’s Veterans, Masters, and Anglers With Disabilities squads.
After a week of intense practice under the scorching Bulgarian sun, managers Dickie Carr, Mark Harper, and John Weeden have finalised their selections.
Angling Trust England Veterans team:
The Veterans team boasts an impressive lineup with Danny Sixsmith, Harry Billing, double Vets World Champ Mark Downes, and former Men’s World Champion Tommy Pickering, who returns to the venue where he won gold in 1989.

Anglers With Disabilities Team
John Weeden, managing the Anglers With Disabilities team, had a straightforward selection process with four anglers making the trip. The team includes last year’s individual silver medallist Stefan Gent, alongside Lee Gregory, Ethan Etherington, and Mark Russell. John Weeden will act as the reserve.

Masters Team
Stepping in for Manager Joe Roberts, who is recovering from a hospital operation, Mark Harper has taken charge of the Masters side. Harper has chosen Darran Bickerton, Matt Hall, Billy Reynolds, and Ben Bray to compete, allowing him to oversee the action from the bank.
