The 8th Golden Reel Grand Final was held on Saturday, September 28th, at Larford Lakes in Worcestershire. This year’s final featured an impressive line-up, including previous winners of big-money finals and former England Internationals.
As the final hour approached, the competition remained tight, with the standings still uncertain. A single large carp could easily shift the results, adding to the suspense for both competitors and spectators alike. In the end, Zac Brown made a remarkable comeback after a slow start to win this year’s Golden Reel title.
Congratulations to Zac on his victory. He secured the win from peg four with a weight of 90lb 2oz. In an interview with the Preston Innovations Facebook page after the final hooter, Zac revealed the details of his match. Following a slow first couple of hours, Zac caught 4 carp on the long pole in the following two hours before moving down the edge and catching a monstrous carp weighing over 20lb. That was the boost he needed, which catapulted him up the leaderboard. A final carp short on pellets before the end of the match proved to be enough to secure the victory.
