The 23rd Maver Match This qualifier of the year was held at Hayfield Lakes in Doncaster yesterday. With only three qualifiers left to book a place in the final, last year’s champion, Andy Bennett, came out on top catching over 250lb.
According to Andy’s post on Facebook, he drew peg 45 on Island, a peg he is familiar with. He fished a simple match catching shallow with pellets for most of the day, before catching 40lb short late in the day. He finished with 257lbs 10oz, which put him quite a distance in front of runner-up Kristian Jones, who finished with 205lb from Adam’s Lake.
