Wednesday, 11th June saw the 14th FishOMania qualifier of the season held at Westwood Lakes near Boston, Lincolnshire. With the countdown to the final growing ever shorter, it was Rob Swan who stole the spotlight. The long journey from Cumbria proved worthwhile as he booked his place in next month’s £50,000 Grand Final.
Drawn on peg 20 on Swallow Lake, the Guru-backed angler overcame a challenging start to finish strong. Rob gave revealed his match winning tactics on Facebook. He began by potting casters at 13 metres, finding the odd carp and F1 early on, but suffered from several foul hookers that slowed his progress. A switch to his short line brought a flurry of activity, before he finished the match fishing down the edge for the last 90 minutes.
That late margin burst proved decisive. Rob tipped the scales at 169lb 12oz, just ahead of Jordan Holloway, who landed 160lb 15oz from peg 42 on Falcon Lake. Former FishO champion Harry Bignell rounded out the top three with 151lb from peg 28 on Skylark.

With just six qualifiers remaining, competition is heating up. The next chance to reach the final comes at Moorlands Farm in Kidderminster on Wednesday, 18th June, where another sold-out field will battle it out for a coveted spot. This year’s FishOMania Grand Final takes place on Saturday, 19th July, at Westwood Lakes in Boston.
