On Wednesday, 29th April 2026, Westwood Lakes hosted the latest FishOMania qualifier, where James Fuller secured his place in this year’s Grand Final following a closely fought contest at the Lincolnshire venue.
With just 11lb separating the top five anglers, the home of the FishOMania Grand Final once again produced a competitive day’s action. James came out on top with 144lb 11oz from peg 7 on Skylark Lake to book a return trip to Westwood in July and a shot at the £50,000 first prize. Fishing short pole and margin lines, James built a strong net of carp and F1s throughout the match. His winning total was enough to edge out the chasing pack in one of the tighter finishes seen so far this season.
Paul Herbert claimed second place with 140lb from peg 12 on the same lake. Using a similar approach, he also put together an impressive catch of carp and F1s but finished just one carp short of the winning weight. Local angler Josh Pace completed the top three with 134lb 11oz from peg 6 on Swallow Lake, continuing his strong record on the venue.

Westwood Lakes holds a special place in the FishOMania calendar as both a qualifying venue and the host of the Grand Final itself. Anglers who qualify there gain valuable experience of the complex before returning to compete on the sport’s biggest stage later in the year. Despite windy conditions making presentation and feeding more difficult, weights remained strong across the venue. The narrow gap between the leading anglers highlighted just how competitive the qualifier proved to be.
The qualifier originally scheduled for Float Fish Farm Fishery on Saturday, 2nd May 2026, has now been postponed until 21st June 2026. Attention now turns to Springvale Fisheries in Nottinghamshire, which hosts the next FishOMania qualifier on Wednesday, 6th May 2026. A sold-out field will be competing for another coveted place in the Grand Final.
