The SG Petch Fish North 2024 Grand Final was held at Forest Lane Fisheries in York, on Saturday, 14th September. The match saw 15 anglers competing for the £12,000 top prize and the chance to become the fifth name on the Fish North trophy.
This year’s grand final lineup was full of big-name anglers, including previous Fish North winners Matty Higgins and Andy Bennett. In the end, it was Lee Thornton who came out on top by the slender margin of 3lb 11oz. He won the match from peg 1 on Forest Lane’s Arena Lake with a weight of 177lb 12oz.
According to his interview on the Fish North Facebook page, Lee struggled in the final hour. Thankfully for him, however, a strong third hour of the match fishing meat short was enough to secure the victory. Second place in the match went to Luke Hawksworth with 174lb 1oz from peg 19. Adam Richards finished 3rd with 159lb 3oz from peg 5.
