Yesterday, the Team England Masters Feeder squad wrapped up their campaign at the 2025 Feeder World Championships in Fortaleny, Spain. After an impressive first day, hopes were high for a strong finish. With the team sitting in first place, there was a chance to go one better than last year’s silver medal. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be. The team finished in 7th place overall, following a testing final day on the water.

After a solid showing on day one, the team entered the second day with realistic hopes of securing a place on the podium. However, challenging conditions and a tough draw saw them slip down the leaderboard. The team ended what had started as a promising tournament on a less-than-ideal note.

Despite the collective disappointment, one member of the squad managed to shine on the individual stage. Richie Hull delivered two excellent performances across the weekend to clinch a Silver medal. He finished with just 5 points over the two competition days – a remarkable feat against a highly competitive international field.

We gave it everything. Some days just don’t go your way, but we’re incredibly proud of Richie and the entire squad for their effort and professionalism.

This year’s championships featured an adjusted fishing schedule, running from 12:00 to 17:00 daily – a change that Team England enjoyed. The squad praised the organisers and FIPS-ed for their event management and expressed hope that these revised hours might become a permanent fixture in future competitions.

The team also thanked their supporters, bait suppliers, and the local organisers who contributed to a smooth and enjoyable event.

With bags packed for the long journey home, the team are reflective but optimistic. Lessons have been learned, and they’re already looking forward to coming back stronger in the future.

Meanwhile, congratulations go to Hungary, which secured both the team and individual gold medals for the second year running. Germany also impressed with a strong and consistent two-day showing to take the silver medal, while the host nation Spain, delighted local fans by claiming bronze.
