Taylor Weir Qualifies for Golden Reel Final at Barston

The Golden Reel qualifier at Barston Lakes on Saturday, 23rd August produced another Grand Finalist, with Taylor Weir coming out on top from a competitive field of 30 anglers. Fishing on the River Side, he secured his place in the 2025 big-money final.

Drawn on peg 56, Taylor put together 220lb exactly to take the victory. His performance booked him a coveted Grand Final place, adding his name to the growing list of qualifiers set to compete for one of the sport’s biggest prizes.

Second place went to George Parker, who weighed in 217lb 1oz from peg 13 on River Side, a result that also confirmed him as a semi-finalist. Third place was taken by Paul Twigg, who recorded 208lb 10oz from peg 47, again ensuring semi-final qualification. Further down the frame, Razlan V secured fourth with 151lb 10oz from peg 49, while Ryan Bennett finished fifth on peg 61 with 140lb 15oz.

Barston Lakes has hosted countless top-level matches over the years, and the River Side section once again provided a close-run qualifier, with the top two anglers separated by less than three pounds. With Taylor Weir now through, the anticipation builds further towards the Grand Final, where the nation’s best anglers will battle it out for Golden Reel glory.
