Sunday, 3rd August 2025 saw Larford Lakes host the latest Golden Reel Championship qualifier, with Speci and Match Burr lakes producing some impressive weights. At the end of a competitive day, Craig Edmunds booked his place in the 2025 Grand Final with a dominant display from peg 18 on Match Burr.
Craig started well, picking off fish on the pole short and with the method feeder during the opening hours. A change in wind direction later in the match proved pivotal, pushing Larford’s resident big carp into his edge line. Despite breaking a couple of top kits wrestling them in, he piled together a match-winning 313lb 2oz to take top spot and seal consecutive Golden Reel Final appearances.
Runner-up on the day was Ben Lord, who finished with 239lb 11oz from peg 44 on Match Burr. Lord’s performance also confirmed his place in the semi-finals. Third place went to Steve Forster, weighing 216lb 3oz from peg 4 on Speci Chalet, securing a semi-final berth in the process. Fourth was Kurtis Tranter on peg 8, Speci Chalet, with 191lb 12oz, while fifth place went to Josh Palmer, who weighed 191lb 2oz from peg 3 on Speci Burr.
