Daiwa has teased a major pole launch, with full details to be revealed at 6 pm on Sunday, August 17th. The Facebook post features close-up images of the pole alongside the caption “Hot off the production line. Designed and Made in the UK for high catch rate commercials”. This has sparked immediate speculation among match anglers about what is on the way.
From the images, it appears the new model will be called the Spectron Ultra. A name with a strong heritage in Daiwa’s pole line-up. Based on early discussion in the comments, many believe it will be a mid-range pole positioned between the established Connoisseur and flagship Airity models.

A Heritage Name in Match Poles
The Spectron name has a long history in UK match fishing. Early models such as the original Spectron and the Spectron M2 Competition were known for their light weight, balance, and responsive action at full length. Later came the Spectron EVO, which offered a refined feel and a generous spares package. These poles were popular on both commercial and natural venues.
Spectron in the Modern Era
Although Daiwa has not released a Spectron pole for several years, the name has continued through the Spectron Commercial Ultra rod range. The range includes two feeder rods and a match rod. Each model features HVF Nanoplus carbon, V-Joint Alpha technology, and Air Sensor reel seats. They are designed specifically for the demands of high-catch-rate commercial fisheries, in line with the focus of Daiwa’s latest teaser.
Full Details Coming Sunday
With the Spectron name carrying both heritage and modern design credibility, the new Spectron Ultra could offer a blend of proven handling and the latest UK-made technology from Daiwa’s Wishaw facility in Scotland.
The full announcement will be made at 6pm on Sunday, 17th August, when Daiwa is expected to confirm the specifications, package options, and possibly a release date.
