Angler Bio
Matt Godfrey is one of the most accomplished and influential figures in modern UK match fishing. A three-time World Junior Champion, he remains the only angler in history to have won the title on three separate occasions — a testament to his early talent and competitive drive.
Matt’s angling career has seen him represent England at both junior and senior levels, with success on natural and commercial venues alike. Known for his sharp tactical thinking and smooth pole work, he’s comfortable fishing bloodworm and joker on canals, or hard pellets and mugging rigs on commercials.
Away from the bank, Matt plays a key role in angling media as Marketing and Media Manager at Tackle Guru. He produces and presents much of the brand’s content — including The Fishing Gurus Podcast and Guru’s extensive library of online films — helping to inform and inspire anglers across all levels.
In addition to his media work, Matt is passionate about youth development in the sport. He currently manages the England U15s team and works with the Angling Trust’s Talent Pathway, helping to guide the next generation of match anglers.
