After the success of the inaugural Over 50s Fishing Masters, which concluded earlier this month at Tunnel Barn Farm, the organisers have confirmed another major addition to the match fishing calendar. The senior-only event proved popular with strong attendances throughout the year and ended in style as Steve Openshaw lifted the £10,000 title with 105lb 6oz from Pine peg 5. Building on that momentum, the team have now unveiled the Silver Fishing Masters, a nationwide competition that shines the spotlight firmly on commercial silverfish.
The event runs from October 2025 through March 2026 and is open to all anglers. A launch video featuring Jamie Hughes confirmed the details, underlining the scale of the new competition and its ambition to become a regular winter highlight. Despite early references to 34 matches, the official schedule confirms a total of 33 qualifiers.
Each qualifier will feature just 20 anglers, with only the winner progressing to the grand final. That simple format ensures that every place in the line-up will be hard-earned and rewards anglers who can adapt quickly to different venues and conditions.
